I've got a coworker. He's someone that at one point I'd have called a "friend." Dude is soooooo deep into the conspiracy theories. He was into conspiracy theories before QAnon became a thing and before anyone ever had the idea of Trump being a politician. (Before even Trump had the idea, I'd wager.) Of course he loved Trump from the moment Trump started teasing running for president. I called a permanent moratorium on discussing anything remotely related to politics or conspiracy theories with him when he started getting insulting in his to-my-face unhinged ravings. He's, surprisingly, honored said moratorium, for which I'm thankful.
If he decides Trump is a "bad guy" and regrets voting for him over him not releasing Epstein files, he can still go fuck himself. Too fucking little, too fucking late. The time to "wake up, sheeple" was before he voted for a fascist.
The best time for people to realize Trump is a piece of shit was in the past. The second best time is now.
My personal and selfish desire for catharsis comes a distant second to my need for people to just never vote for him or anyone like him ever again.
Sounds like you've got history with this guy. No judgement. If his bridges with you are burned, that's on him.
But I do hope the broader community can resist the urge to dunk on people who come crawling back to sanity. Otherwise they might backslide to a toxic community that actually will accept them.

Do I really need to break it down for you? Lincoln was shot shortly after the civil war. Shit heel Andrew Johnson sabotaged reconstruction. None of the traitors were hanged. They went on to implement Jim Crow. The descendants of the same racist lazy scumbags are unwinding the civil rights act and want to turn the clock back to antebellum.
They want white supremacy and slavery. They’re well on their way to achieving it.
You need to break down what the alternative is.
Right now we're talking about not alienating people who drop their support for trump.
What exactly is the alternative and how does that realistically play out.
A fish rots from the head. Jail for Trump and his conspirators.
Work your way down.
Constitutional amendments to make Supreme Court justices accountable for malfeasance.
I agree with both of both of those things.
But that's not really really related to buddy who voted for Trump and realized he's a piece of shit.
I agree only in the sense that if he denounced all the other shit too, it’d be a change. They were still with him on denying people due process, general hatred towards anyone different, I can’t even go further into this list without getting depressed.
Fuck that.
These motherfuckers poured gas on everything, then started playing with fireworks, and are now looking for help and sympathy because it's become too hot for their comfort.
They need to be treated like the pariahs that they are. With any luck, those that would follow will see the consequences of that life choice and choose a different path.
What does that mean.
