There gotta be some kinda check on a president using a pardon when he is personally tied to the case.

It doesn't seem to matter even if there is.

The Republican Party doesn't want to impeach him. Some of Democrat Party do, but their efforts get squashed by the Republicans and the other half of their own party.

He can't be held personally accountable for abusing his power in this case either, thanks to SCrOTUS basically saying that official presidency acts are above the law.

Where the hell have you been? There’s been checks on everything this entire time but failing any of them doesn’t matter anymore.

It was more of a wishful comment

I sincerely envy your wishfulness

And I haven't been pessimistic enough to expect everything that's already happened

God this sucks

Er ... no. At this point, the presidency can do pretty much whatever it wants. You may be thinking that I am using hyperbole, but I am not. The Supreme Court determined that, as long as the president says, "I'm acting as the president!", whatever action that follows is excempt from prosecution.

LOL.

You must be new here.

The whole shit show is based on the assumption that the people of the United States wouldn't elect a dictator, or would at least take action if it turned out that an elected person was in fact a dictator.

Seems to be that neither of those things are true.
