Inspired by r/nosleep, but without the "Everything here is true" and "You can't criticize the OP" rule. Post your scariest original short stories here.
Rules are simple:
- Be nice, criticize constructively, no name-calling.
- No obvious AI generated stories, or other spam.
- Everything posted here is creative fiction, any similarity to real life is pure coincidence.
- Prompts are allowed, but should be prefaced with "[WP]"
- Collaborative storytelling is fun, so if you'd like to continue your own story or other people's story as a series in the comments, start your comment with [CHAIN]
- Troll/Parody Stories would be allowed on Sundays, but the title should start with "[PARODY]"

"You would not believe the day I've had! Let me tell you about it on our way home, please?"
She recounts a fairly regular day, waking up in her downtown flat, feeding her cat, and saying goodbye to her partner as she leaves for work answering telephones, before finally taking the tube back home. She manages to get on a new express car, but as the starts to move she realises there is a strange woman here who wants to tell her about her day...
But isn't that your day? Thinking to how you got here, you realise you can't remember where your flat is, or where you work. Did you have a partner, or even a cat? You can't remember anything about them.
A cold lump forms in your chest when you realise you can't remember who you are.
Without a word, the woman gets up and wanders over to the back of the car, laying herself down next to the other bodies.
You sit down to try and think through your situation - trying to remember anything outside of this car.
After some indeterminate amount of time, the doors to the car slide open and you see another passenger walk in. With sudden relief your memories come rushing back like they had never left: you're just coming home from a great job interview and are excited to return to, to... Your home in the suburbs of course. The memories are maybe not all back yet - suddenly, you realise what would help jog your memory back. You look up at the passenger and say,
"You would not believe the day I've had! Let me tell you about it on our way home, please?"
