So, I agree and appreciate what you're saying. I was being a little facetious as well, if it wasn't obvious.
My opinion on the matter is that I don't really think it's noteworthy, so long as one isn't doing it intentionally. I am definitely aware that I do a multi-vote sometimes when I am using my alternate account(s), but my intent is not malicious. I just don't remember exactly if I voted on it already or not, and my mind puts it into some kind of morally ambiguous area.
My feelings are the same. Votes are reactions, like ๐ or ๐. It's a federated universe where account creation cannot be controlled. Trying to make votes out to be more than a fun social reaction is ridiculous.
And yet, in other threads you can see admins bloviating about the sanctity of votes and how "vote manipulation" is scummy, etc. See, eg: https://lemmy.ca/post/50545875
I figured, but also wanted to answer it seriously in case doing so would help people know the answer legitimately as well.:-)
