General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Corbyn in the UK is the main counterexample I can think of, but even then that was for less than five years in opposition and with the entire political and media establishment conspiring to bring him down, including the right of his own party (and in fairness, he repeatedly shot himself in the foot and handed them easy wins).

That's my concern with him starting his own party. He will immediately be attacked by pretty much everyone and he is really really bad at countering that. He says he's principled but principled people don't become politicians you need to be a bit screwy in order to survive and succeed, and he doesn't have that.

Best if we just unconditionally support him.

The fascists currently are good in making compromises, in order to later gobble up the compromisers.

Maybe we need to do the same, but with our red line applying, of what we won't compromise.
