I'd love to see more international politics, not just usa
For sure. I saw someone commenting yesterday that Russia invading Poland's airspace was "a distraction from the Epstein files." Not everything that happens in the world revolves around America's shitty probably paedophile president!
This comment was a distraction from the Epstein files.
Fair, there's a lot of stuff that should probably be posted in a "us politics" community instead of "politics," and some other stuff that should be posted in "politics" in addition to other-country-specific communities.

I usually downvote US stuff in news communities. They should create separate community that we all can block. 🤷♂️
Piefed keyword filters allow to block "Trump", "Elon", etc.
It's probably even more effective than banning politics communities one by one

That doesn't solve the problem of there being too much US related news.
It limits the issue from the user perspective, I don't see US news anymore.
To address the issue at the core, !news@lemmy.world shouldn't be mostly about US news, but the mods of that community never seemed interested in addressing that issue.
There is !usa@midwest.social we could try to push people to, but again unless the mods on !news@lemmy.world add and enforce a "no US news" rule there isn't much we can do.
And they're already busy with something else https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/53505862
