Awesome, because I think it's a pretty great punishment. It doesn't hurt her, if she gets teased for it she'll know how the cancer kid felt, and it's likely a lesson she'll remember forever.

But I was concerned about public sentiment calling it child abuse or something silly.

I think the public should be more concerned with actual child abuse. Let's start with the president (if you're in the US)

I feel like there are steps you can take before doing this. I would expect this kind of parenting to develop huge amounts of ill will towards the parents from the child.

yes, i'm quite certain it counts as child abuse. You're altering their body without their consent for no better reason than punishment.

Punishments also aren't effective anyways, children who bully others almost always do so because they themselves are suffering.
