General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Absolutely fair enough and I appreciate you letting me know. There is a bit of irony in you linking me a substack article in your response about how you refuse to read my substack article, but I'll leave that be haha.

For the record Lemmy has had a Nazi problem for a bit and a problem with CSAM material as well, if that's a hard stopping point for you, and fair enough if it is, you should probably start looking elsewhere.

Haha, ooops, I didn't realise that was Substack, did not know you can use your own domain.

Yeah, Lemmy and the fediverse in general have some awful instances / accounts (and a lot of the people writing the software are problematic as well) but I think that this is a bit different since you can block those instances / users or use an instance that doesn't federate with awful instances. Not using email because there is a nazi email provider is different from using a platform that is cool with and promoting nazi content (even if that service also has cool content) in my opinion.

Anyway, I'm gonna look into Ghost as well, it seems really cool that they also do newsletters!
