Known Issues

Posts created in portrait mode automatically rotate to landscape mode. This is something across Lemmy that seems to be known. To address, the image must have the correct metadata, not just rotated in your camera roll before uploading.

Spending my evening trying to identify a seemingly obscure piece of boom shackle tackle.

Or, more specifically, a boom vang that seems to have a harness that goes around the boom, instead of a bracket that attaches to the boom.

Can't seem to find the right words to describe it ... but the existing one is fraying & could fail.

@ghost_towels Thanks, good tip. I've got a sailmaker contact that can probably help.

Any idea what I can call it? My searches haven't turned up anything ready-made online. The webbing/straps go up to a metal plate (bridle? saddle? shoe? cuff?) on the top side of the boom, through strap slots, in order to apply evenly-distributed downward force. It looks like it should be some kind of kit, but no dice with DuckDuckGo and google.

No idea, a vang bridle maybe? Interesting that it has a metal plate for the top, that seems specifically made for this then, so you’d think it would have a name.
