Bought a new stove recently that wouldn’t alllow the air fry mode to be used unless it was connected to WiFi.

If I build a rig with a 3090 running Debian will stuff like ollama be able to take advantage of it? Thinking up building a new system for my containers and getting into that.

Run most of my containers on a synology 1621+. Immich, paperless, grafana-based monitoring stack, etc. Upgraded memory from 8GB to 32GB and it's a night and day difference. Enough that I'm probably not going to move forward with adding nvme storage for a cache. Wish I did it sooner.

Added donetick to the collection recently and the kids have really latched onto the points system and got them more engaged with helping around the house. Note that if you self host, the password reset function doesn't work. You have to update the hash in the databased directly. Not a big deal but it really shouldn't require that level of effort.

I use scrypted to pipe Unifi POE cameras into HomeKit. Not really a fire, but I'm having issues with notification timing be longer than it used to be.

And lastly, a very very different turn of events for me. I'm not a developer, but I recently did an experiment to see what AI could do in helping me create a web app that could be used to scan all the physical books we have. A catalog of sorts for us to be able to look up what we have by genre, bookshelf location, etc. 100% vibe coding. Took a few hours of back and forth but we have something working. Not sure I'll ever let the code see the light of day outside my network, but it did help me learn a tiny bit about coding.

The original Blair witch has become a yearly routine for our house.

Does Chris Colinsworth just hate the Niners? Feel like he just refuses to give any props to them on good plays.

edit: Ok he at least acknowledged the sack.

Don’t know if they have exactly what you’re looking for but we picked up a Scanstrut system to hold our iPad and their stuff is pretty solidly built.

Just a quick comment that you might want to check out scrypted and its ability to manage a collection of cameras.

Aug 30 (Reuters) - Chrysler parent Stellantis (STLAM.MI), opens new tab is recalling 219,577 Ram ProMaster and Doge Journey vehicles in the U.S. due to an issue with the rear-view camera that could diminish the driver's view behind the vehicle, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Saturday.

Hey everyone. For a variety of reasons I’ve ended up with a paperless-ngx install that has not been upgraded for a while. It’s currently on 1.17.1, and I’ve been researching to figure out the best way to get back up to current. I’m worried about major changes that have happened over time and what the best way to go about this is, but I’ve not had good luck finding something that gives me the confidence to go about it. Hoping someone here has some guidance. Cheers!

Help with next upgrade (pcpartpicker.com)

Have been building up this PC over the past couple years. Runs well but am trying to figure out what the best upgrade would be at this point. My guess is memory, but I’m not sure. Budget is flexible but would like to stay under $300. Thanks!

edit to clarify this is a gaming rig

I’m sure there’s something “nutritional” there for them but?

Finagled my way into the attic to explore a bit. Found this wiring run that basically lays on the sheet rock with insulation sitting on top. It goes to a light switch that controls three of this thin led recessed lights. Could this get really hot and start a fire with the insulation on top?

edit: breathing easier now. Sounds like this is normal stuff. Thanks for the help!

I’m not sure what material or style these steps are, but they’ve started crumbling after water got into a crack and froze during the winter. It seems to be getting worse and I’m wondering how to address it. Is this something that can be patched or do I need to remove all this material and start over?

I seem to have done something that is preventing the sidebars from following any themes I’m using (Nord in this pic.) After going through every setting I can think of, I’m hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction to get these sidebars “unstuck” from being a black back ground.

Do we take requests here? :)

Pretty much the title. I have a childhood memory of a strip where Calvin wakes up from a dream. Upon hopping out of bed he begins free-falling and startles awake… from a dream. This repeats to a point where when his mom calls him down for breakfast he’s absolutely fraught about getting out of the bed.

Anyone able to post or know approximate publication date? I have the large 3-book collection and I periodically browse through it but have had no luck finding it.

Helping kick off this sub…. err community with what I’m hoping is a softball question. We have our homekit cameras configured to show up on our tv when motion is detected. It pops up in the top right corner and we really like the feature. However, while it will eventually go away, it takes longer than I would like. I’ve tried a variety of buttons on the remote to clear it but haven’t had any luck.

Anyone happen to know?
