Actually, given the fact that any time the government right now is working bad things happen to ordinary people, shutting it down might be the way to go.
The government is already going into shutdown. Today was the deadline and no Republicans showed up at the capital at all.
The GOP offered a continuation which slashed benefits and raised certain healthcare costs by 75% and the DNC said "no, just don't change anything and we can all agree to keep funding federal programs and offices such as medicare, the national parks, wildlife fish and game, regulatory bodies, research and education, etc"
HOWEVER the GOP can STILL pass their horrendous bill via Reconciliation, and the DNC will be powerless to stop it.
