The closest model we have for what is occurring globally is the run up to WWII. While Germany was famously the worst practitioner of fascism, Italy was also fascist, and the U.S. had its own fascist contingent. As income inequality grows, and the system becomes less and less fair, social unrest rises along with the urge to "burn it all down", and populist movements flourish. Right-wing authoritarian populism, i.e., fascism, moves to gain power and seize what it can. This shifts nations to a war footing, and conflict explodes. We're seeing this now. Look for the flashpoints in the world to get worse, and all-out war to become far more likely.

The way the U.S. is destroying itself economically, major conflict is on the near horizon, as the ripple-through effects on the world economy are massive, and distressed people become desperate. Expect a stock market boom/bust in 2026 that makes 1929 look quaint, along with gold prices going parabolic. I don't know where WWIII will finally erupt, but my best guess is that it will involve Russia in Europe, maybe Poland, drawing in NATO and causing all hell to break loose. Things will get much, much worse before they get better.

It's weird, in that people hate fascists - from other places. So there is a competition between all the fascist movements in the world for the first to rise to power. When that happens, then the other nations shut down their own fascist movements and it becomes the enemy.

I would expect for the world to similarly shift away from the rise of fascism once the first power truly leans into constitutional authoritarianism and starts threatening others.
