Top 10 TNG episode for me and has one of the best “oh shit we really doin sci-fi” moments in TNG:

CRUSHER: Here's a question you shouldn't be able to answer. What is the nature of the universe?   COMPUTER: The universe is a spheroid region seven hundred and five metres in diameter.

You'd think with their warp tech they'd have figured out at least the shape of the universe.

They struggle to even go to different quadrants of a single galaxy. There are trillions of galaxies.

That's not how science works. We have a few ideas of how the universe is shaped now, and we've never gotten past the moon.
