Spez is absolutely someone who would think that and get instantly merced by his operator 2IC he hired under shady circumstances before the apocalypse.
Techbros worry a lot about how to keep the help in line after what they often call "the Event." In private conference, according to eyewitness testimony, they usually resort to talking about bomb collars.
I know soldiers are not exactly the smartest or most delicate people, but uh... idk, I hope they try this sort of thing in person
