The one that looks tempting which I might actually get around to playing some day if I buy it is Hades.

Hades 1 & 2 are so good!

Played Hades 1, it's super good when it clicked, if not it will feels like any other roguelike.

I refunded Hades, I found it dull. To each their own.

I bought it for Switch years ago after being peer pressured from the massive amount of glazing and regretted it. It's a good game, I just don't like roguelikes. The constant "I hate roguelikes but this was the best game I've played in years!" comments pushed me to do it.

There is just something about Hades that clicked for me as well. I literally never played rougelikes, but Hades just hit different.

I played it right before Hades 2 came out, and bought Hades 2. I have now completed all steam achievements on both games. So I really understand the

I hate roguelikes but this was the best game I've played in years!

Was that way for me too

I just wasn't lucky enough!

I loved the game but the actual gameplay was probably my least favorite part if that makes sense.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It does, I kind of agree. The visual style, artwork and characters are all fantastic, but the gameplay is super repetitive

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

I'm also just not very good at fighting games lol

I am actually among the "don't like roguelikes but this was an amazing game" crowd. Sorry it didn't work out for you. I can't say exactly what it is, but something about how they nailed the roguelike formula is perfect. Always new dialogue to unlock, new things to buy, resources to farm, prophecies to fulfill, there was just so much perfectly aligned for me. Probably helps that I also love Greek mythology.

Hades is definitely right down my alley, even though I'd never played anything quite like it before. It's one of the games that reignited my enjoyment for gaming, a hobby that I mostly set aside for about 20 years. It's one of the very few games I can fire up when I have a bit of spare time and even though I've played through the levels a hundred times, it's still so much fun.

I've tried to get into Hades 2 and so far it hasn't captured that same level of enjoyment. I think I prefer the relative simplicity of the original and the fact that it takes much less time to start feeling powerful in the original. Much more rewarding. Of course, my opinion on that might change.

Dooooo iiiiiiit, Hades is so fucking gooooood

[–] Seasm0ke@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I put it down after about 20 hours, then came back after a few months and 100% it. Honestly that I gotta escape 10 times slog was demoralizing but worth it and very gratifying

Fucking buy the game already. It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played.

It’s worth full price. Very, very few games are worth the full price.

I’d buy this game again on Steam if I could.
