Left the house at 6:45. Got a camera alert a couple of hours later of movement in the house, and surely enough, dog was caught peeing on the couch. It's always when we aren't home or at night he goes inside. He knows to go outside every other time, and has his own door.
My mum thinks he's doing it out of spite because he's being left alone. Perhaps he just doesn't like going outside when no one's home because he has to keep watch if anyone comes in. Who knows.
All I know is that I shall buy him belly bands.
Dogs don't do spite. Not feeling safe to go outside when no one is there is much more likely.

They make dog nappies (is that what belly bands are?). My SIL had an incontinent old dog that wore them in the house all the time. Definitely beats cleaning up messes
