Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

This is not a gender thing.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Or course it is, not exclusively, but largely and often.

You're missing the point. It's a back and forth between sexes, not a gender thing.

It always starts with a woman complaining things aren't always how she wants. There isn't any better example of a gendered thing than when one genser seems to always be the one doing it.

It damn well shouldn't be. But there are dudes who won't even wipe they own ass cause they're afraid to catch the gay.

Edit: I really didn't expect non ass wipers to be on lemmy. But I'm glad I upset at least 4 of you idiots.

Edit 2: hey I'm positive again! For anyone curious, I made the first edit when this comment was at -3.

Literally everybody is missing the point that's it's a sex problem, not gender. So many whooshes in here.

And it shouldn't be a gender or sex issue. I'm a cis-het dude, and I put it down all the time cause I don't want the water spraying out when I flush.

Sure. But I was directly replying to OP originally, and the way it was phrased.

You're right. It's a "people who listen" vs "people who don't listen" thing.

It just so happens that on average, women are much better at listening than men.

This argument requires you to presume that a certain position is already right, and then commands you to conform to that position. It isn't an argument, it's an imposition.

Putting the lid down is right.

I don't care whether YOU conform to it, in the same way I don't care if YOU return shopping carts, or if YOU tip your waitstaff. I don't have the energy to enforce that everyone do everything right. But someone in your life wishes you would.

And they won't shut up about it⸮
