I don't care about Maduro, as far as I'm concerned, they can shoot him if they want. What matters to me is walking through the streets of my city and seeing the faces of fear on my neighbors. The military patrolling to prevent looting due to panic. It's a collective hangover, a horrible one.

It's 2016 all over again. It's seeing despair entering the circulatory system of all Venezuelans, only now it's more sudden, and we are painfully aware of it.

This is far from improving, and we know it.

I'm seeing a hell of a lot of parallels to the Falkland Islands from when I was growing up.

It's all a distraction, and they don't care how many human lives they have to destroy. The astroturfing AI bots are, frankly, disgusting.

I'm really sorry that you're suffering, and I hope your beautiful country's recovery is swift and as uneventful as possible.

The real parallel is between Leopoldo Galtieri and the Falkland islands. He used an invasion to distract from his human rights abuses and a worsening economic situation in Argentina. Of course the utter failure of his conquest led to his downfall and the restoration of democracy in Argentina. If only America could have a restoration of democracy.

distraction from epstein files, trump escalates everytime the files get more news. plus the 2 right wing propaganda news both recieved the info on the attack days prior too, but they CHOSE NOT TO report it.

Are you blaming Thatcher? Except the Falklands war was completely the fault of the Argentinian junta. The junta was growing unpopular and wanted to invade the islands to artificially shore up their approval ratings. Thatcher, for all her faults, did consider giving up Falklands to prevent a war, but the locals in the islands are completely loyal to the British so handing over the islands to the Argentines is out of the question.

Edit: as expected, Lemmy and their wilful ignorance as always.

Yeah the US is pulling an Argentina this time round, same reason even, plus oil.

Ngl, hope Maduro is collateral, after what he did, and that Venezuela just pops back up without him.
