Welcome to the largest gaming community on Lemmy! Discussion for all kinds of games. Video games, tabletop games, card games etc.

Rules

1. Submissions have to be related to games

Video games, tabletop, or otherwise. Posts not related to games will be deleted.

This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.

This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Today's game is Red Dead Online. Me and my friend played in a private lobby and just hunted some stuff. It's honestly one of my favorite ways to spend my time playing this game. I don't think i have it in me to directly take an Animal's life, so this game kind of lets me get the experience of it without the guilt (though, when i fuck up a shot and the animal suffers i do feel pretty bad too).

It's honestly really cool. I like when games have mechanics like this that i could only describe as immersive. Zomboid is like this too with it's... well... everything. I need more games like this in my life.

After a while of hunting i got a new Jacket unlocked, so me and my friend rode into San Denis to go shopping. I like coming to this city in the winter because of all the snow. I honestly wish the game had a season mechanic. It'd probably take a lot of Horsepower to run but it'd be cool. That's probably more of a Red Dead 3 thing though, if and when it happens.

After clothes shopping we went Bounty Hunting. This is my favorite job to do just because it feels the closest to a campaign. I wish we had gotten more jobs though. I know i, and i know many others, have said this before, but Rockstar really did this game dirty by cutting it's life so short. It really deserved more.

After the bounty hunting, me and my friend went back too hunting animals until he got off, citing flu. I stayed on to get my Trader production up and running again before getting off myself.

As soon as I see your post i upvote. I mean this is some dedication! I dont understand why people would downvote. You may not like the game, but they could just scroll past it?

Anyway...

Also: how do you do it, play every day?? Do you have more than 24 hours a day?

Not exactly, just a lot of free time (and dedicated to my hobby). I'm fortunate enough to not have to worry about bills right now and i'm only really busy 2 days of the week

I enjoy this „about games“ content a lot more than the „behind games(/the scenes)“ stuff or self-promos, and OP usually keeps it digestible and doesn‘t turn it into an essay. Not missing a day has been insane as well obviously (the posts, I mean). Playing every day I find kinda easy with a Deck, at least I can play for 30m before I go to bed, sometimes that‘s just staring at a Baba Is You level before giving up lol. Making a post about it every day on the other hand… I couldn‘t do it.

I'm guessing they don't have kids. Gaming is also my main hobby and I generally manage to play every day too, but not sure I could with kids

I don't have kids but there's not a chance I could play games every single day for more than a couple months even if I made it a goal.

I try to play a game once a day. Days where I can't feel weird. Even if it's just a puzzle game for 15 minutes, I try to play something every day.

I always have a day once in a while where I feel like I don't have time to do even the most basic things I have to do. And I'm not a particularly busy person, it's just something that is bound to happen once every couple months.

I have multiple children, work full time, go to gym and still find time for gaming everyday. It's certainly do-able!
