No one is mentioning it, so I will: Maduro's armed escort is just out of frame. There are about a dozen armed agents that escort him to the armed transport. This picture is missing important context in that regard
There is something to be said about the fact an alleged CEO killer is given the same level of armed escort as an alleged international drug kingpin and terrorist, but this picture does not accurately describe the situation
It's not that misleading. When Luigi was first brought to NYC, his "entourage" included the mayor and the police commissioner, and an enormous contingent of heavily militarized soldiers/LEOs crowding around him. His blazing orange jumpsuit almost glowed.
It backfired badly. The first time I saw that photo, it had the caption "Jesus being led to Pontius Pilate by the Roman Praetorian Guard."
Yeah, presenting stuff like this in a misleading way only hurts the cause and credibility. Makes it much easier for 'the other' to 'legitimately' dismiss it
There is also something to be said about the framing of these two photographs as that distinction would be an intentional choice by the photographers and the publications which use their photographs.
perhaps the amount of escort is just standard procedure for whatever prison it is theyre going to (forgot the name)
