What i want in actual bots. No human controls. Robots by definition are autonomous. You put the bot in, run.exe and off it goes. It would make them have to really think about design instead of just having a whirling hammer on an rc car.

A robot is actually not autonomous by definition. A robot, by definition, is just a machine specialized for performing a specific and/or complex task.

Orbitron claims to be mostly autonomous. I believe the driver still influences overall strategy but for the most part it handles second to second combat by itself. It hasn't had much success, but shows autonomy is an area teams are exploring.

Battlebots Org themselves are also looking into other rulesets for humanoid bots and autonomous combat. It's probably just a matter of time, but under current rules the autonomous bots will have to fight better than human operated first.
