RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Prepared a dedicated Project Zomboid server for a few friends and I to play on, but before testing I got distracted and started making a proper implementation of running PZ through systemd. I'm picky when it comes to how services are run, even if it's through wine and steam and hundreds of other abstractions.

Makes sense in the long run, as the plan is to only have the game server running a few hours on a fixed schedule per week, so that we all can set aside one evening for it. We're all adults with kids and family obligations, so we concluded that it was best to have it on an automated schedule so one of us doesn't loot the entire map before the rest have barely found the time to play.

Now I'm sitting in discord waiting for the others to come online so we can test the entire setup and the world settings. In the meantime I'm typing this, while watching a 3d print in the works (just a mundane test-print, nothing exciting).
