So convenient this changed once it was useful
His stroke was in 2022...
He's literally not the same person, like, it's pretty common after a stroke to see drastic personality changes.
Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.
My mom went from quiet, good natured, and zero sense of humor; to absolutely hilarious and loves to joke, but also crazy bigoted out of nowhere and just in general a piece of shit.
We need to start acknowledging that brain damage is a real thing, a crazy amount of people running our society are showing obvious signs. But no one wants to mention that they're flat out not mentally capable to hold office.
And we can't rely on their own staffers to ring the alarm bells, because doing so would lose their jobs while staying quiet let's them manipulate an elected official.
We should have learned this lesson after it came out about Reagan, but clearly we haven't.
His longest serving staffers quit a bit ago so you really can't rely on the staffers now.
I wonder why that change happened.
Was the payday is too good, does someone have kompromat, or was always kind of an asshole?
AFAIK he was always a bit of an asshole. The long standing hypothesis is his stroke in 2022 changed his personality. It's disappointing obviously, and he needs strong primary opponents. We need better Democrats.
I see people blame the stroke most often but dang if it don't smack of controlled opposition
Yeah, I watched this video about him a while back. There were indications even before his stroke that he leaned more right than left. It was a rug-pull on his constituents.
There was a time when he wasn't accepting PAC money, but that didn't last. That certainly changed things. And then the stroke.
His wife was probably a big part of the more positive things in his past. He was very active in the town he was mayor of, but outside his wife's charity store, that's all gone.
He helped bring in the one Pittsburgh chef with national attention into Braddock and opened a restaurant. Very vocal about how it was going to be local first, yadda yadda. Getting anything to move into Braddock is a big deal, let alone someone with a reputation. The only places that have staying power in Braddock either sell alcohol or is the one dollar store.
But he also did pull a shotgun on a man who was just jogging when he thought he heard gunfire and detained him until police arrived. Who knows what the full story is there, but it got ignored partially because... well that's Braddock.
