It's part of the reason TVs are so cheap today, they can serve you ads. You can technically find displays that don't have ads, but they're far more expensive. Better to just neuter a smart tv for personal use.

This is the answer. The computer is in the living room (Linux) and is used for games and movies and stuff. It's hardened and the TV is just a dumb TV without Internet.
