World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Cucked little bitch. Putin's dick is so far down his throat that he's able to fuck his breakfast Big Mac.
I still cannot believe that this pube-flecked chunk of human excrement won a second term. It's still genuinely sickening to me, like my stomach really feels like I'm perpetually tipping over the apogee of a rollercoaster when I remember what happened. His winning the first term was at least comprehensible, but I'm still punchdrunk from the shock of it all, even after all this time. And I'm not even from the US! I can't imagine what it feels like for the people who have to live there, especially those who aren't cis-white-hetero-males.
Defund education, control the media, manufacture consent, use others as scapegoats.
It feels really bad. Like your neighbors betrayed their country for no personal gains.
Anyone who has spent any time in the US shouldn't be surprised by him winning. It was and is still shockingly frustrating and disappointing, but unfortunately that's only because it's an emotionally difficult pill to swallow how awful so much of it is.
Sort of how no one is surprised when Israel bomb indiscriminately, the US invades/coups/bombs another country, Saudi executes a bunch of people, Russia is excessively brutal, massacres in African conflicts if not genocides and ethnic cleansing that most of the world ignores.
No matter how predictable, it is always shockingly horrifying, but not surprising.
Why do you say that? Americans not caring about democracy and freedom wasn't on my personal bingo card prior to the 2024 election so it did come as a bit of a shock to me.
You're lived under a rock before '24?
what exactly are you referring to?
Murican foreign policy for the last few decades.
JFC, HE CHEATED! Everybody knows it! He won EVERY swing states? That's was pretty much a statistical impossibility. They made no secret of it, both Trump and Musk both said many times that they intended to steal it.
All they had to do was flip one vote in seven states. That's how we ended up with MILLIONS of straight Democratic ballots, with Trump at the top. MILLIONS OF THEM! Who does that? Who votes that way? Have you ever met a person who voted straight Democratic, except for Trump? I've never met one, and I've never seen one on TV. That's because they don't exist, not in any significant numbers.
And the craziest thing is, they ONLY seem to exist in the swing states, because that vote pattern didn't occur anywhere else.
But as soon as the polls closed, the MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Jeffries immediately declared Trump's victory "fair & square," abdicating their sworn responsibilities, and condemning America to the political Hell we are being dragged through.
If it was "fair & square," it was the first time in his entire life that Trump didn't cheat, and it is highly doubtful that he would choose the one election that would keep him him out of a life sentence in prison to finally play it straight. Does that sound like the Trump we know?
Quit doubting America, quit doubting Harris's campaign, and place the blame where it belongs - on Trump, and his evil cabal of corrupt, treasonous, pedophiles.
I always found it extremely gross that nobody even attempted to ask for a single recount. They just rolled over instantly
They have shown statistically that this happened in a number of swing states using the same tools that show it in Russia and Belarus.
