I mean, fundamentally, it kept me locked in a futile struggle to overcome my deficiencies so that I could be more acceptable to others.
Internalized ableism I suppose, but it’s also a core failure in behaviour if you want to have good self esteem.
Getting the actual assessment and a qualified diagnosis been very helpful in coming to acceptance for why Ive been so different my whole life. And thus Ive been able to finally become my actual self.
But thats me, maybe someone who grows up with the proper support and community can find their way without this. I needed authoritative proof to help me change.

Yea its probably very individual. Still i like to imagine what a diagnosis could do good. I like that you call it authoritative proof.
