This is my third time to the office. Im waiting for the Doctor to come in and whie waiting in the examination room, I spot this. I start flipping through it, and I am getting upset.

I wait for the doctor to come in. I immeditely ask him, hey what it this? why is it here? He blew me off and just said "oh its just an opinion piece" and I said, yeah, but who put it here, do you believe in this? And he just shrugged. I said, Im leaving, that is so wierd, thats weird to have in a doctors office. And I left. Ill never go back to that place.

I need a doctor who believes in science. You wanna be christain thats fine, but this literally says, for christain nationalism. gross.

Putnam CT, USA if anyone is curious. I want to post the photo in google maps reviews, but I am afraid to, even with my google account being a burner. Yes, it's the red pocket of an overall blue state, but, I just, was not expecting to see this.

Dude did you not check their ratings before you went? 3.1 is a major red flag.

Another hint is look for "LGBTQ+ Friendly" in the listing. That's the easiest way to determine whether or not a doctor believes in science.

So, most of the reviews are for the only brown lady in the place. She was lovely with me, this is a racist area, so...I ignored them. I did notice she had a cross on her neck, but thought not much of it. Until today, I saw some dude, O'neil. Idk who's room it was, but either way..

learned my lesson, both you and my husband are right lol

Ooh that's a good point; I didn't factor in that the general bigotry of the local community would play a factor in ratings... Not really an issue when you live in the city.

But yeah the "LGBTQ+ Friendly" label is very helpful for finding businesses that are progressive and treat people like human beings.

Sucks that you're stuck in an area full of bigots...try to leave when it becomes affordable/convenient.

Is it strange that in my point of view as an European, it's weird as fuck that a doctor (or anything) has an "LGBTQ+ Friendly" tag?

That literally should not be a thing - every single doctor out there shouldn't at all care about their patient's sexual orientation and if they do care, leave it at home and act like fucking professionals at work.

I mean, I can see some specialities having doctors signal that they're experience with things related to gender transition, but beyond that, doctors as medical professionals have a professional duty to treat everybody the same independently of sexual orientation (and race, gender, religious beliefs, nationality and so on).

Further, doctors practicing Descrimination on their patients should be struck down as medical practicioners.

Isn't there something like a Medical Order in the US? What kind of fucked up medical training system you have over there?

I have always interpreted that kind of tag as basically stating “we’re not bigots and we don’t send profits to bigoted political candidates in the community” more so than anything related to the business or practice specifically.

I've seen it mentioned for behavioral health places, and it makes sense to me in that case. If you're going to be seeing a psychiatrist, or going into rehab, you're probably gonna want to be sure that they're not bigots

I can understand it if you want a therapist who is familiar with helping you through gender dysphoria. That experience in navigating those complex emotions would be useful.

Otherwise, I hate how in this shithole of a country doctors put their own religion and prejudices before their patients and the patients well being.

It's a Google Maps feature, not a doctor thing. Does that feature not exist in Europe?

or gender neutral bathrooms.
