Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Real big "some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make" energy here. I wonder if he's just going all in on rigging the election so he's not even trying to keep voters happy.
Midterms are so difficult to rig that it would be impossible on a nationwide basis. All you can do is influence it with gerrymandering, and the kind of intimidation and suppression tactics they've been trying, which are hit & miss.
Presidential elections are much easier. You only have to rig one race in only seven states, and they proved they could do that in 2024.
That's why there were millions of straight Democratic ballots, with Trump at the top, all concentrated in the swing states. Nobody votes that way, NOBODY. Yet the Dems declared the race "fair & square" on Election Night, as if the one election Trump needed to win to stay out of prison, was the one time in his entire life that he didn't cheat.
They'll get crushed in the next Midterm, but the 2028 Presidential Election is going to be a major problem. I expect he'll try to do some sort of write-in campaign, then claim that so many people wrote his name in that it disqualifies the Constitution, and he will remain president, by popular demand.
What do you mean by this?
I mean just what I said. There were MILLIONS of ballots that were straight Democratic tickets, except Trump as president, and they were concentrated in the Swing States. Obviously they hacked the machines, and flipped votes from Harris to Trump.
That's how he won EVERY swing state, a statistical impossibility, AND the "popular vote," the first time a Republican won it since Reagan in 1994. They couldn't even let Harris win a couple, just to make it look plausible. No, he had to go full dictator, and claim the ENTIRE country voted for him in a LANDSLIDE.
Have you ever spoken to someone who voted all Democrat, except for Trump for president? Have you every seen one on TV? Since those people decided the entire race, why didn't any media outlet collect a bunch together in a panel, and ask them to explain? Where are those people? Who are those people?
Show me ONE.
And yet Schmuck, Jeffries, and the DNC immediately declared the election "fair & square," because they were far more interested in demonstrating to MAGA and the world what a "peaceful transition of power" looks like, as if we hadn't seen that 45 times before. So we never had even the slightest interest in investigating the MANY reports of election improprieties in the 2024 election.
When this is over, and we are intensely investigating MAGA's many crimes, we should also look into what the Dem leadership was up to, because it sure looks like they were cooperating with MAGA on many occasions, including the obvious rigging of the 2024 election.
Thanks for the additional explanations, I'm not from the US so I'm not too familiar with how voting works there.
I'm still not sure I understand what "straight Democratic tickets" mean. Is it people who only voted Democratic before and this was their first time voting Republican?
If that's the case, I'd be interested to read more about this if there are some sources you know of. It sounds like pretty solid evidence for election rigging.
No, it means they only vote for the candidates from their party.
Generally American voters are either Republican or Democrat (or Independent, like me), and they generally vote for all the candidates from their party. Not always, sometimes there's a candidate from you party that you particularly hate for some reason, or a candidate from the other party that you like, but generally people vote for their own party. That's a "straight party ticket."
The ballot always includes much more than just the presidential race. Every two years, every member of the House of Representatives runs for reelection. Every six years, Senators run. Governors are running, along with a lot of other state seats like state legislatures. Then there are municipal races for your county and city - mayors, councilmen, school board, tax collector, clerk of courts, judges, dog catcher, etc.
So if someone is a strong party voter, they'll just vote a "Straight Ticket," with every vote for their own party. In the old days, with the old voting machines, there was even a switch you could flip as soon as you started, that would automatically cast your party vote for every race, so you didn't have to flip 20 switches.
So it would be really weird for someone to be such a strong Democratic voter that they check off every Democratic box, and then cast their presidential vote for Trump. I could see them voting for their Republican neighbor for dog catcher, because he's kind to animals, but generally, the higher the election goes, the more likely you are to vote for YOUR party.
The idea that someone would vote a straight Democratic ticket, then vote for Trump as president, makes no plausible sense at all. Worse, literally nobody from either party has questioned it at all.
Re: straight democrat tickets with trump for president. Do you have a source on this? I'd like to read more about it.
Like I said, NOBODY is investigating it, so there is very little except lots of things from lots of sources.
Here's something that points to what I'm talking about:
...
Swing states: how Democratic vote stayed flat while Republican gains won it for Trump
So the story in the Swing States was that the Democratic vote stayed strong, while the Trump vote increased...why? What was the reason for the sudden rise in Trump voters in those states? Why weren't they there in 2016, or 2020? After not voting for him twice, they saw him throw an Insurrection and steal hundreds of documents as thought they'd vote for him for president, even though they were going to continue to vote Democrat for everyone else?
Florida, which was an evenly split state for decades, is no longer considered a swing state because so many MAGAs moved there, that they now have a 600K lead. But that doesn't seem to be the case with these states. Their Democratic voter base stayed relatively consistent, but suddenly there were a lot of Trump voters.
All they had to do was flip less than 1% of the vote, and both Musk and Putin openly contributed their experienced professional hacking teams. Lean on the the Doge Douchebags, and they'll spew the whole sordid scheme.
He did make exactly that claim during his campaign. "We're gonna fix it so good you never have to vote again."
