Not to torture them with boredom for n months/years.

In America there is a disgustingly large amount of people who believe it is what should happen in prison.

It's also never about rehabilitation, it's becoming more and more about private prison profits and cheap/free labor. I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in our ~~in~~justice system. :(
