I know there’s psychological research that says any of us could become Nazis, that we’re just products of our environment, but I dunno man. I see the things happening in the world and I don’t know how I could ever get from A to B. I think the systems are just good at finding the evil people and putting them in those positions.
It's less of a "You as you are today could DEFINITELY become a Nazi!" and more "You, if you were born and grew up in a totally different environment, would be a different you who could definitely become a Nazi."
As General Sherman once observed to later generations who asked how so many people could tolerate so great an evil as slavery, "Man is more a creature of habit than originality."
