For me it's simple: no sync, no reddit.

I'm never going to use their app.

[–] FloridaMan@kbin.social 4 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Same. Plus not many people here yet so I got a sweet username.

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

You did get a sweet username

[–] SpaceCadet2000@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Too bad we don't get userids so we could boast about our low-digit uid for extra cred, like back in the Slashdot days (low 5-digit Slashdot user here :p)

[–] Jimmni@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

The bragging rights of a 4 or 5 number ICQ user.

[–] iAmTheTot@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Presumably we'll still have account age, at least.

Of course, if you wanted a name that was always taken you could just join another federated site. For example, you're FloridaMan@kbin.social but there could also be a FloridaMan@lemmy.world, etc.

I'm still learning how this works. Thank you

Yeah, I switched from RedReader to Slide to Infinity, never even considered the official Reddit app, it's so slow and there's so much ad there.

[–] coralof@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I went from Slide to Apollo. When I heard about the API news, I tried out their official app, and it was just horrible. There were even ads in the comments!

rif for me. but yeah especially after finding out there was a profit sharing agreement in place that spaz cancelled.

[–] TheDeadGuy@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

I'm all about taking the power out of corporate hands. Back to the glory mess of community driven internet

[–] Katharta@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

Yep. The day the Boost app on my phone stops working is the day I cease visiting Reddit entirely. It's about sending a message.

@SpaceCadet2000 @lynny @MargotRobbie In my case is no Infinity for Reddit and no Firefox + uBlock Origin, no Reddit.
I mention Firefox because they're working into block browsers on mobile devices too.
