It’s alternate history, the space race accelerated all the research and development related to the space race.
And you can launch once a month, not twice a year, you can launch more frequently. But the logistics and costs don’t make sense.
Large part is not being able to operate in the dark on the moon, that’s the limiting factor.
Operating in the dark is another case of "very difficult, not impossible." RTGs were invented in 1954, and were used in real life by the crews of Apollo 12 through 17 to power long running lunar experiments. The RTG from Apollo 13 is still sitting in the South Pacific right now.
Its the manned part, cant really build the ships that well or they’re too heavy to lift off or something along those lines.
I'm pretty sure this is how it works in real life too lol. we just stopped veeery early into the space race
It does, but EVs and Solar crop up in the 80s far more in the show than real life too. It’s not just for space.
