Late Stage Capitalism
A place for for news, discussion, memes, and links criticizing capitalism and advancing viewpoints that challenge liberal capitalist ideology. That means any support for any liberal capitalist political party (like the Democrats) is strictly prohibited.
A zero-tolerance policy for bigotry of any kind. Failure to respect this will result in a ban.

2 No Trolling
3 No capitalist apologia, anti-socialism, anti-communism, or liberalism, liberalism is in direct conflict with the left. Support for capitalism or for the parties or ideologies that uphold it are not welcome or tolerated.
4 No imperialism, conservatism, reactionism or Zionism, lessor evil rhetoric. Dismissing 3rd party votes or 'wasted votes on 3rd party' is lessor evil rhetoric.
5 No bigotry, no racism, sexism, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or any type of prejudice.
6 Be civil in comments and no accusations of being a bot, 'paid by Putin,' Tankie, etc. This includes instance shaming.

I think it definitely becomes harder to make friends the more you cultivate your own tastes in entertainment, or make up your own mind politically, or basically any of the stuff that connects us in a society.
Although you might need to spend a significant amount of time without friends around to get there in the first place. So it could be a chicken and egg kind of situation.
Not going into the article beyond your summary because I'm not really interested in subscribing to someone who wants to sell me a way of life but just to relate to it; I moved across the country like a decade ago and I've been too much of a poor to get out much since. So I've mostly kept myself busy and gone down my own rabbit holes without the influence of friends or the clubhouse.
And I feel a bit like I'm in the twilight zone or something these days. Especially with a large segment of the world population getting into podcasts and becoming pod people. I just find it hard to relate to it trust most people I meet beyond the superficial level now.
Although another chicken and egg thing here is, it's hard for me to decide of isolation and self discovery changed me, or if it saved me from being changed into a weird conservative pod person.
