Cars are fascist-backed technology. So are computers. Highlighting such a fact is irrelevant.
Ford cars are certainly fascist-backed. Volkswagons, too. Idk if I'm going to stick the label on the Olinia or the Renault.
The Chilean Fascist Augusto Pinochet famously shot all of his country's computers for being Communist.
Weird that you'd bring it up. Weirder that you'd get so many of your facts wrong.
You're pointing out brands. Brands can be fascist.
The OP is pointing out technology. Technology cannot be fascist.
I'm pointing out corporations founded and financed by fascist networks and leaders.
Modern AI tools are extensions of their corporate parents. They are some of the least host-agnostic technological advances made to date. Their construction, their access, their modes of function, their material output, and their waste product are all informed by the ideological motivations of their primary sponsors.
In the same way that a car becomes an anti-pedestrian agent of social change and reshapes the territory to accommodate it, the technology of AI reshapes the material conditions of its associated workforce and the function of its output. These changes are fascist in character, in the same way parking lots and highway overpasses and suburban neighborhoods are made into tools of segregation and eugenics.
They don't have to function that way, but they become so when they are implemented by business executives with fascist motivations. So the Ford Motor Car does more than just exist as a piece of technology. It functions as a tool of social oppression. In the same vein, the Olinia moves us in the opposite direction.
Technology can and has been developed to serve fascist ends. The engineering behind an object can explicitly serve a political agenda.
Sounds like you're using some fascist technology, friend.
I load the abliterated Qwen 3.8 with 27B parameters into the VRAM of my laptop, communicate with it via Ollama, direct it using the Pi coding harness, and it does none of those things. It can't even phone home.
Be more discriminating in your choice of technology suppliers, I guess?
One of the consequences of living in a fascist state while surrounded by fascist sychophants, unfortunately.
Do what you can, but don't fall into the trap of individualist consumerism. Blaming the slaves for working on the plantation only serves fascist ends.
Agreed on all points.
Good luck convincing a lemming of that, they are all fucking brainwashed to hate AI as a whole.
AI "brainwashed" me into hating it, by increasing the amount of work I needed to do to fix the AI user's code.
What sort of free for all repo are you maintaining that is just openly accepting slop contributions? Control who is allowed to make submissions based on their adherance to best practices and the problem disappears.
It's not Open Source.
The other guy is being paid to push that slop. And he's paying out of that, for AI cloud services.
Then hire more competent devs or work somewhere else I guess? Why are your company hiring such lazy devs?
(Interrogatory) Statement of the decade.
It's not, they have different potential consequences
Everything has different potential outcomes...
What does that even mean?
Exactly. It's all nonsense. But we need to single out this nonsense in particular and hate it. Because it has different potential outcomes....
It's not allnnonsense. LLMs are being used to "solve" small problems but pollute way more than normal datacenters, way more than you using your personal computer etc. You seem heavilly invested in denying any bad thing from LLMs ...
Because you conflate data centers with LLM.
Data centers are bad. LLM are not.
Worst take award
So you must think the opposite.
LLM bad, data centers good?
Black and white thinking. Just like fascists (including tankies).
LLM bad, data center not inherently good. Humans could get rid of data centers if they get their shit together and distribute instead of just decentralize, similar to how they can establish anarchism the same way. BUT if the ideal were to be assumed impossible (because of course you would), data centers are good at a certain quantity. Peeing is fine, everyone does that. If you pee 8 times a day, go see a doctor.
Dont feed the troll. Read their post history and you'll see they are either trolling or very delusional.
Thanks, comrade, useful reminder
I'm not a troll, just fighting futilely against the wave of morons fighting against reality from being real.
Uh huh... You just admitted you are the one with black & white thinking by saying LLM are bad. I assure you that the LLM that I use are not bad. They also don't require a data center. They run locally on my laptop, with no more expenditure of energy than playing a video game. Unless video games are bad, too?
We have a difference of opinion because if anything is bad between the two concepts then it's data centers, not LLMs.
Did you train them without any data centers though?
Not really, but whenever choosing a game to play, I am biased towards some of the lesser resource intensive titles like TeeWorlds, Need for Speed: Underground and The Ultimate Shovelware Title: Homebrew Edition rather than, for example, Counter-Strike 2, Forza Horizon or The Ultimate Shovelware Title: Unity Edition.
Was your computer made without a factory? No? Then I guess your computer destroys the environment. Better stop using it immediately.
See how silly that sounds?
I'm glad you have a system for choosing what games to play. I'm sure that will serve you well in finding the optimal way to be entertained in your leisure time.
Too late. It's pretty much required nowadays in most regions (not something I agree with, people who don't want computers should be able to choose to entertain themselves in other ways). Computing is now the only established way to have pointless arguments with people around the globe. Also the only established way to attend school in lots of places. It's really difficult to have homemade computing without first "lightly disestablishing" the silicon companies holding trade secrets.
It isn't too late to resist LLMs.
Then we've reached the salient point of contention: I think it was too late to resist LLMs as soon as the LLMs were made publicly available. There's no putting the genie back into the bottle. No way to close Pandora's box. It's as wishful of thinking as saying it's not too late to resist cryptocurrency. Even if you got 99% of people to boycott it, so long as the 1% still exists it's not going away.
