I think you'll find that when Stalin compromised with fascists, that was a very good thing, that's why despite being very proud of making this supposedly necessary compromise, discussing the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was taboo in the Soviet Union till 1989. They simply didn't want to make a big thing of it, because Stalin was such a modest and down to earth guy.
