If a woman had made an identical comment about a dude posting with/without makeup photos it wouldn't have drawn any ire.

It wasn't objectification. He never insinuated that her looks were all that mattered, or that she wasn't a unique snowflake of a person - he simply mentioned his own preference about makeup.
