If they had a super cheap $1 tier just for being able to use custom emotes anywhere, I'd honestly love that. Though I feel like the $5/month for Plutonium is a lot better than $10/month that discord nitro goes for

yea, that's exactly why they don't do that. They know the only main feature that they offer that people who subscribe actually want is the emotes everywhere, they won't offer a super cheap tier offering only that as the jump would be people on the 1$ tier and then people on the 10$ tier. Nobody would do nitro basic.
