So the right wing media will make a big deal out of any findings, which will probably have some corruption uncovered but of the vanilla, boilerplate variety everyone does in DC, the conservative base will get frothy over it, the libs will Nothingburger it, everyone else will see it as more “both parties are corrupt” background noise, impeached in the house, senate acquits.

This is naked corruption in the white house! - chuds libs-owned

First time? - leftists first-time

Every president from here on out is gonna get impeached the instant the opposition has the House

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

Yeah just going to become a standard “rile up the base” tactic

I wouldn't want a lefty house to hold any punches against a party that represents capital. If it's something they can do, why not?

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Sure, but neither of these are lefty parties, they're both just slightly different flavors of the 'pro-capital' sludge

I'm not against this all, mind you; it's less time spent proposing legislation for murdering innocent people, and is at least amusingly stupid

Yes, please don't mistake me for someone who believes this is effectual governing. It's a funny development and I can imagine the tears on @Civility@hexbear.net 's face when impeachment is as traditional as being sworn in
