No. If you don't use Apple home devices and Apple services like facetime.

Why not I only have an iPad and Apple TV. It’s a more expensive streaming device but it’s fast and has good support.

AppleTV is one of, if not, the most powerful streaming device on the market right now. You don’t need to use FaceTime or Apple Home for it to be beneficial.
