You're wrong. The first QB taken in each NFL draft has a pretty good track record. Not perfect, but they turn out good more often than they turn out bad.

The Bears haven't even tried to draft QBs. They've only picked a QB 4 times in the first round in the last 35 years:

McNown, Grossman, Trubisky, Fields

The reason we've never gotten a good QB is because we haven't taken enough swings. I also think Fields is the only guy on that list that wasn't somewhat of a reach (For those of you too young for McNown - holy shit was he bad... by far the worst of these guys)
