Why is Apple allowing applecare+ ony year old device? (alien.top)

I recently got my phone repaired as it was having screen issues, under the 1 year limited warranty(ending in 2 weeks). Today I noticed, it asking me if I want applecare+? It says I have 9 days left to get it?

How and why was I offered this? Should I take it?

Service revenue is one of Apple’s biggest profit centers.
