RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

"Being confident" is dangerously close to straight up bothering people. Plus it only really works if you're good looking.

I don't believe "ept" is a word, the antonym of "inept" is "adept".

I like ept. It reminds me of whelmed.

Hey, I gave up being a language prescriptivist; use it if it makes sense to you! Ain't no one got time to quibble about that shit if what you say makes sense anyway.

I can see it being the midground - inept is bad, adept is good, "ept" is just... "well I guess they don't suck at it", lol

Hahaha, I like it! Gonna start using it... See if I can make it catch on!

Thanks!

I didn't really think it was, just being funny when I couldn't find the word I wanted.

Heading off to etymonline now...
