I don't know how many messages have done that today in the past ~7 hours. ~5-ish I guess.

I've been checking "all" once in a while to not miss any.

---

Edit

Also - I just noticed that a significant number of messages are entirely missing from "all". I have messages to "5 hours ago" and then there's a huge lacuna to "2 days". I've been posting quite a lot so ~40-ish messages are missing. If not a lot more.

Off topic: Who doesn't like the word "lacuna"?

This seems to happen when someone replies to me and then someone else replies to them. I haven't tested this, but it always seems to be replies with other replies under it that skip my inbox. Idk, happens a bunch

I'm pretty sure it's just once anyone replies to the comment that it will take it off your notifications.

yeah, I have had one or two comment replies just disappear and not notify me, and I suppose that's just the ones I've gone back and noticed... There might be something going on here

The weirder thing for me is the lacuna. I'm assume it's a "cosmetic" bug and the database (or whatever it's called) is still okay. I sure hope so.

in my experience that's likely. The lemmy UI produces some weird results like that, but the backend is solid. Like on profile pages, you don't see all comments and posts in chronological order, it seems to grab the most recent x number of comments and x number of posts, and makes a list from that, so usually it will be like "comment comment comment post comment comment post post post post post" with a glut of older posts at the end

dunno if it ever stopped but this bug or one that looks the same to users has been around for months

Same. I thought it was from a) non-HB replies or b) someone replies and I have that thread opened in another tab. But aryu's theory below makes more sense.
