Australian politician with some decidedly fascist tendencies. He's exactly the monster he looks like

That may or may not have participated in the time honoured qld police tradition of picking up aboriginal youth and dumping them in the middle of nowhere to walk home.

An ex cop that other cops left cans of dog food on his desk.

Because he is a dog.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

That's why he looks like a thumb. Thumb looking people are more likely to become cops.

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 32 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is he one of the "thinking he's the Master Race while looking like a rat" kind of person?

[–] Custoslibera@lemmy.world 69 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Generally you don’t have to say someone is not a monster if they are indeed not a monster.

[–] evidences@lemmy.world 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

As some who who is definitely not a monster I can confirm this. Also I can not emphasize enough that I am not a monster.

[–] lars@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Unremarkably, I’m kind of a monster

This guy is fucking terrifying. He's rabbidly racist, ex cop, anti migrant.

He changed customs to "australian boarder farce" who's logo was literally a faceless man in paramilitary outfit.

In his inaugural speech to parliament (you can read the transcript here: https://www.peterdutton.com.au/about/maiden-speech/) in 2002, a time of some pretty dark excesses of the court system and police murders he said "and I have seen the sickening behaviour displayed by people who, frankly, barely justify their existence in our sometimes over tolerant society. "

He literally thought that queensland in 2002 was over tolerant. We incarcerate the native people at one of the (if not the) highest rates in the world.

Over.

Tolerant.

How much time he spent hidden under a turban on Professor Quirrell's head?

[–] snrkl@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Well. In a one on one call with him once (he's my local member) I asked him why we could not protect individual rights with a charter of human rights.

I would describe the tone of his response as visceral.. He said to me:

"[I don't trust the courts in interpreting legislation like that. I would not want to give them an inch. Just look what they've done down in Victoria.]{paraphrased}

[As far as I'm concerned, the parliament is perfectly placed to decide what is, and is not a human right, and if you disagree with me, you can vote me out... ]{direct quote}"

I assume the VIC reference was to the judges that had been appointed most recently with track records of upholding human rights...

[–] Minarble@aussie.zone 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Please do everything you can to remove him from your local electorate!

Sometimes the best thing to do is just get out of their way...

Years ago on twitter some random disabled guy called Dutton a "rape apologist", and got sued to oblivion and utterly destroyed his life and family.

This guy is a monster.

Luckily he thinks he can become prime minister without the "woke left city dwellers" (most Australians live in cities), and is pushing a ludicrous nuclear energy agenda that is devoid of financial or environmental logic. So I'm fairly confident Albo will get re-elected.

Never underestimate labor's ability to build a gun and shoot themselves in the foot with it.

[–] UnfortunateDoorHinge@aussie.zone 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Tasmania election, the Labor leader immediately conceded defeat and didn't want to entertain the idea of forming a coalition with anyone, especially the Greens. I mean like, what a loser, by her own choosing.

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 years ago

Labor is fucking allergic to working with the greens because the greens have ideals.

Sure sometimes they're a bit stupid but of the parties with a regular presence in the houses they're the only ones not dragging us to hell.

[–] set_secret@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

100% monster

[–] Minarble@aussie.zone 10 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

As a bonus he is the minister responsible for allowing the varolia bee mite into the country as Border Force stopped training detector dogs for bee and honey imports on his watch

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

'How many times do I have to tell you? I am not a monster!'

Edit: fixed bad autocorrect

[–] Hedlosa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

To keep with the Aussie tradition, let's all sing the pub version of will I ever see your face again by the Angels while looking at this article headline.

[–] bfg9k@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Is this real or fabricated?

I love the idea that a fascist’s spouse is the one who decides if they’re a monster.
