Plant a seed of Swiftthistle, trigger it, grab the food and get far enough away before the effect wears off.

I haven't played this game so my first thought is that I was looking at Loss.

Do it! It's called Shattered Pixel Dungeon. There are other variants, but it's the modern, balanced, "main" version of the game.

[–] AnalogyAddict@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

So it's better than original Pixel Dungeon? I gave up on that.

[–] Sidyctism@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

it doesnt have a weapon degradation system, which was like 90% of the reason why i gave up on the original. Also quite a bit new content

[–] CrayonRosary@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I think so, yes. But it's 85% the same.

You can think about using a Potion of Levitation or 2 Stone of Blink (get by alchemizing 1 Scroll of Teleportation into 2 runestones). Other option would be to alchemize Telekinetic Grab Spell (Put Thrown Weapons into Liquid Metal and any scroll with any stone into Arcane Catalyst. Combine these twos to get 6x Telekinetic Grab.

[–] CrayonRosary@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Arcane Catalyst is gone, my friend.

Maybe you are lucky and the rations are upgraded!

[–] redd@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What are upgraded rations?

[–] Carcel@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

There aren't upgraded rations, but if there were such a thing they wouldn't be destroyed by an explosion.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

It's even better when it's right on top of a hidden trap and you go to pick it up, but die instead.

Does fire destroy rations?

It doesn't destroy, say, chargrilled meat, so I assume that it doesn't destroy rations.

If not, the problem is just tripping the trap without being hurt, and you can do that by taking off your armor or weapon or something and throwing it at the trap from a distance to trigger it.

Exploding trap. It destroys whatever is thrown on it and whatever is on an adjacent tile.

You would have to levitate, use chains, or a stone of disarming.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ah, gotcha, thanks. Wasn't aware that the explosion itself had an effect.

[–] basxto@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

It does not destroy everything, but it can destroy weapons, armor and food.

[–] Victor0176@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

those are explosive traps, they explode

[–] littletranspunk@lemmus.org 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

So to sum up solutions

Swiftthistle seed to basically freeze time, run in and grab it before the effects wear out

Stone of disarming to remove the traps

Potion of levitation to go over the traps

Stone of blink to blink onto it, if you have enough health then you only need one after you pick up the ration

Timekeepers hourglass to do the same as swiftthistle

Ethereal chains to move to it

Reclaim trap item to remove one of the traps

[–] MrRedstoner@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Also other (later game) options such as ally swap, heroic leap etc

[–] littletranspunk@lemmus.org 1 points 1 year ago

I thought of those, but usually people don't still have the starter armor at those points.

Definitely an option though

[–] wizzor@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Throw the trap with a rock to trigger it?

[–] littletranspunk@lemmus.org 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That would destroy the ration

[–] wizzor@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Ah, thanks I did not know that!
