I’d never heard of David Draiman or his band before.

David Michael Draiman was born to Jewish parents in the Brooklyn borough of New York City on March 13, 1973. His father, YJ, had worked as a real estate developer and small-business owner before he was arrested for embezzlement and sent to prison when Draiman was 12 years old. YJ would later become a candidate in the races for Mayor of Los Angeles in 2013, 2017, and 2022.

After high school, he spent a year studying at the Yeshivas Neveh Zion in Kiryat Ye'arim on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

In 2019, he described former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters and other activists seeking to boycott Israel for alleged human rights abuses as "Nazi comrades".[21]

I mean, David Draiman is a known zionist, he's been all blood thirst rage since forever, also funny as hell from him since his band's logo looks like this

The heavy metal band Disturbed is represented with a logo that symbolizes unity in their activity and style through traits from four religions.

[–] AlicePraxis@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

regardless of what that symbol is supposed to represent, it does look like some shit a nazi would come up with

There is a band that once had made a song with those lyrics:

Once again we hear them calling for war It doesn't matter what they're fighting for They light the match and watch the whole world burst into flame The story's always the same So tell me, people, are you ready to kill? Behold the propaganda, get your fill A distant enemy is threatening our freedom again How much would you like to spend?

They don't care about the blood on their hands Look at the world, and you will understand They count the money as the innocent continue to bleed They're always planting the seed So tell me, people, are you ready to die Without believing in the reason why? They paint a picture, and the whole damn world is deceived It's all that they ever need

Millions are falling in line And it's just a matter of time Endless destruction will ensure their pockets are lined For all time

No more defending the lies Behind the never-ending war

No, it can't be disguised anymore How they smile as we pay for their war

No more, by Disturbed

What happened Disturbed, did you forget what you were screaming about in the past (in 2018)? They also had some other songs similar to that. Come on guys... that's dissapointing..

(Though they do had some war-glorifying songs before this one, but I thought they had changed their view, matured or something..)

They got down with the sickness capitaldcolon

[–] iByteABit@hexbear.net 33 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Fuck yeah new reason to hate on Nu metal just dropped

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

System of a Down is innocent

[–] iByteABit@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago

Nu metal is trash and should feel ashamed

(not you SOAD, you know I love you)

[–] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

Rage Against the Machine is nu metal, and I'll be damned if I sit here and let you cast aspersions on them.

[–] egg1918@hexbear.net 28 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I hope he dies

Edit:

Slowly.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 22 points 11 months ago

Never needed another reason to hate Disturbed, but I'll take it

[–] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 22 points 11 months ago

#neveragain

I hope that every single person who uses this in support of the Palestinian genocide experiences what the people who started the slogan were faced with x10.

[–] DerEwigeAtheist@hexbear.net 22 points 11 months ago

At least he looks like a prime candidate for heatstroke, what with not wearing a hat in summer in a desert. Already has the signature anglo-in-spain look. Like a rotissery chicken, or a lobster.

[–] erik@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago

Man, I just popped over to his instagram and like fifty posts in a row just all about Israel basically. Wild to see.

[–] Dr_Gabriel_Aby@hexbear.net 13 points 11 months ago

Okay but who the heck is Amy I. Chai?

[–] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

He's always been like this, for over a decade now.

Any good metal bands without being actual Nazis y'all like? So far I have Panopticon, Ashenspire, and Chat Pile

[–] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 15 points 11 months ago (2 children)

SOAD’s the best, sepultura, kittie, nothingface, king gizzard and the lizard wizard, earth crisis, soulfly…

[–] Des@hexbear.net 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

holy shit nothingface. haven't heard that name in a while. used to be my favorite band back when i was still into nu metal.

they were sort of my gateway drug to melodic hardcore and early metalcore. they still hold up a bit as one of the better melodic alt-metal outfits with some hardcore influence

i basically went from nothingface to unearth in sort of a linear fashion

[–] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Any other recommendations? I randomly found nothingface with no context, and researched only to find they all had miserable lives.

Edit: I see your comment above.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Earth Crisis may not be Nazis, but they're chuds.

[–] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The anti-drug part I presume.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

Yep, and the anti-abortion and anti-communism parts.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 13 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

dying wish has been pro-palestine since before it was cool, the lead singer was throwing firebombs at cops through the george floyd protests

unearth (anti-fascist, eco-anarchist, closer to traditional metal then metalcore) knocked loose. foreign hands, boundries, stick to your guns (good melodic heavy hardcore, good politics) for weirder mathy stuff seeyouspacecowboy

[–] erik@hexbear.net 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Unearth so good. Can't believe I forgot about them when recommending leftist metal bands.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

i can't believe they are still releasing bangers

If you are looking for nu metal specifically then you can’t do better than System of a Down & Maximum the Hormone. Also check out the Italian metalcore band Destrage, they are so underrated

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] Des@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

every genre in one i fucking love that band. goes jazzy, punk, then rap, then pure japanese bubblegum pop and then out of nowhere is the sickest breakdown you've ever heard

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago
[–] erik@hexbear.net 9 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Look into metalcore bands, especially ones that came up in the hardcore scene. Stuff like Knocked Loose, seeyouspacecowboy, Dying Wish, Stray From the Path is firmly left wing.

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Protest the Hero and Destrage as well

[–] Des@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

going to have to check out Stray from the path

after listening: waow-based

[–] erik@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

One of them pillars I built my gym playlist around. It's like Rage Against the Machine fan fiction and I'm fine with that.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] erik@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

I had not, but I'm listening now and it's hitting the spot. Thanks!

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 6 points 11 months ago

Thanks comrade, I'll give em a look!

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago

There's a whole "Red/Anarchist Black Metal" scene that's been coalescing for a handful of years now.

Feminazgul and Iskra, are some favorite RABM bands of mine.

Realm and Ritual, on bandcamp, is a cool RABM/Dungeon Synth tape label that's putting out cool shit all the time.

[–] DivineChaos100@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago

Oh he found caps lock

[–] GladimirLenin@hexbear.net 10 points 11 months ago

You can tell he's indigenous to the region because of how fucking sunburnt he is.

[–] bumpusoot@hexbear.net 10 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Keep seeing libs defend this shit with "but they're training shells!!!!"

The same lib logic would defend celebs signing a nazi Zyklon B canister for display

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 9 points 11 months ago

Oh, but of course

[–] POKEMONGOTOTHEGULAG@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago

I remember enjoying their collab with Nita Strauss but then youtube autoplay started playing a pro-Israel rant of his
