It’s like I get the point of this war but at the same time it’s just something about the music playing in the background like it’s some kind of call of duty montage that makes me feel uneasy about it.

I was in the military too and there are often times where I didn’t agree with certain things but it’s part of the mission.

Idk, it’s just sad and unfortunate all around.

These people have friends and family that I’m sure care about them..

I don't think anyone is happy that this was is going on. The reason I'm happy to see Russian casualties it's twofold, the war will not end until the Russians have faced such devastating loss of life that they destabilize the Putin regime, and the myriad war crimes are being committed by Russian service men. Death, surrender, or retreat. That's it, the Russians serve the cause of genocide and have to be expelled from Ukraine. Sure they have families, that's too bad, Ukraine is the victim. Kill Russians until their families start to care, though that may not be possible.

I said that to defeat an invading army which refuses to withdraw, you have to kill them until they leave. They said that both sides were "corrupt oligarchies murdering their young" as if Ukraine has any choice between defending themselves or fucking surrendering.

You think I am some kind of "armchair general"? We all know that the reason for the war is the gas transit (which was a major source of income for Ukraine), mineral resources in the eastern regions, and the expansion of NATO. These could have been mediated by trade agreements and diplomacy. Then instantiating a ceaesefire and DMZ where necessary. Additioally, you do not have to follow your corrupt leaders - it is called democracy!

on NATO expansion, any country is free to apply. If Russia doesn't want a country joining, they should use diplomacy rather than brutally invade like a bunch of fucking barbarians
everyone tried to negotiate with Putin. You can't negotiate with a rabid dog.
Zelenskyy was elected on a platform partially consisting of rapprochement with Russia. Putin wasn't interested.

There were no negotiations because Putin was set on conquest. And all that you can do in the face of a monster like that is resist, to kill his soldiers until he stops sending them. World War 2 wasn't going to be won with flowers and peace signs and Putin wasn't going to be stopped with them either.

Kill them until they stop coming, and keep giving Ukraine what they need to defend themselves until the Russians fuck off back to their own shitholes of a country.
