I worked at a fast food place in high school. They trained us to put the condiments on the bottom bun so you taste it sooner in the tongue. I basically eat my burgers with that logic in mind now. Whatever side the door is is now down.

[–] Cynicivity@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago

I always find that when I try and eat a sandwich or chicken burger upright, things (especially the meat) always falls out. So for me, the optimal way to eat it is to pick it up right side up and then flip it upside down to take a bite.

[–] atlasraven31@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Not really. More debatable is cheese on top or bottom.

[–] yA3xAKQMbq@lemm.ee 19 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Yes Inquisitor, this heathen right here.

This is not debatable. Cheese on top. While the patty is still on the grill, so the cheese can actually melt.

[–] atlasraven31@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

But if cheese is on the bottom, your tongue will taste cheese first

[–] yA3xAKQMbq@lemm.ee 11 points 2 years ago

I don’t know how you eat burgers, but the first thing your tongue tastes is the bun…

[–] snooggums@kbin.social -2 points 2 years ago

Why would you want that?

[–] CordanWraith@aussie.zone 2 points 2 years ago

This doesn't really make a difference to the question, you can melt the cheese on top and then just put the patty on upside down so the cheese is down.

I only flip if the bottom bun is losing structural integrity.

[–] Auduras@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

If I'm eating it with fries, particularly chili cheese fries, I don't mind the burger falling apart a little as I'll just eat it up with the fries.

Damn writing that out makes me sound like a fat ass.

[–] snooggums@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Same. The thinner bottom lets the meat and toppings reach the tongue and whatnot easier, but it won't reach if it falls apart either.

[–] rumckle@aussie.zone 1 points 2 years ago

True, for me it also depends on how the Burger is constructed. Often the lettuce is put on the bottom, I want to get straight to the meat and not have the taste masked by lettuce. But it depends on the burger.

God, that's gonna be one hell of a weird blowjob for mrs. Jumpy Tail over there

[–] eltimablo@kbin.social 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Til kangaroos have upside-down dicks.

[–] rynzcycle@kbin.social 11 points 2 years ago

Well yeah... 'cause Australia.

[–] atocci@kbin.social 3 points 2 years ago

Happy to be of service

[–] empireOfLove@lemmy.one 31 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Top up, of course. I'm not some kind of upside-down Australian savage.

[–] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Who tf does blue

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago

For the bun in the picture, normal hold is fine.

Unfortunately, more than a few sandwich places believe that the space between the bun is the perfect place to serve a large helping of soup. Thus, by the time it reaches your hands, the bottom bun has lost its hold on mortality and is being torn from existence. Normal solution is to grab the bun that’s still there.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (5 children)

I eat it right side up but I rest it upside down. Top buns soak up meat juice without losing integrity, usually.

[–] betamark@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Aha! More of us inverter-burgers in the same thread! I'm keeping notes now. If this gets much more serious we might have to organize.

I don't know about eating it upside down. But when put a hamburger down, I do put it upside down. I feel like they stay better in this position.
When upside, up I find all the parts to often slide apart. When you pick it back

[–] betamark@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Should we come up with a name for this? Flipmacs? Inverter-burger? One thing I like about doing this is that it is disrespectful to the pompous sesame seeds. They think they're so important. We'll show them!

[–] juladuni@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do you guys also eat it with the skin?

[–] Okokimup@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] DmMacniel@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

Aka wrapping paper.

[–] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I turn mine to the side like a mad man.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.mindoki.com 3 points 2 years ago

Australias apparently.

[–] Resistentialism@feddit.uk 3 points 2 years ago

I just use a knife and fork.

Vada pav? Left

Burger? Left

Saucy, smashed or curry style burger? Right

[–] Samsy@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

Both, I just turn around if eating goes into an unexpected manner.

[–] gamey@feddit.rocks 3 points 2 years ago

Only one of them is actually useful! ;)

[–] binboupan@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Whichever as long as it is mine

[–] Little8Lost@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

up and when the stuff starts to fall out i switch

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If toppings belonged on the bottom, they'd be called bottomings, not toppings.

[–] Hyacathusarullistad@kbin.social 4 points 2 years ago

Hard to argue with that logic.

[–] 1050053@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Crips and Bloods dress like my grandma's table towel.

[–] regalia@literature.cafe 2 points 2 years ago

Bottom. Idk it just feels less messy that way.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Uhh neither, two double cheeseburgers all bottoms add Mac sauce stack as you please. Imo it's better because no tops and one extra bun.

[–] dani@artemis.camp 1 points 2 years ago

Upside down, cos that’s how my hands naturally pick it up.

[–] NENathaniel@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

Switch back and forth

[–] Batman@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

If it's got two patties I'm splitting the top and bottom between them. I don't have to choke myself and my food gets much more masticated
