Perfect, just in time to stop Russia from meddling with the 2016 election!

Are we still acting like Fox News is not the same?

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)
  1. Fox News isn't state owned
  2. Fox News has argued in court its entertainment, you're a sucker for believing their crap, and they've won

That said, yeah its quite the hypocrisy.

State owned is not worse than private owned, when the private owned company have obvious political agendas.

Especially in democracies.

They're just better at hiding it.

Well, yeah! It was settled in court that they're strictly an entertainment company. It's the most-watched cable entertainment station that just likes to riff on the news ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, they are. They're not the ones getting banned, because they maintain an air of plausible deniability.

Not saying they don't deserve to be banned, but they're not overt Russian propaganda—simply the regular, alt-right Conservative kind, and apparently Facebook is totally fine with that.

Great, now Putin will have absolutely no way whatsoever to spread his propaganda on Facebook!

Lots of negativity and whataboutism in this thread (which I don’t disagree with), but this is still a good move.

I really struggle to see the point of these comments. It's a valid criticism to say it should've been done sooner or they should've done more, but doing something is better than doing nothing and also better late than never. So what are these commentors trying to achieve here other than applause and upvotes? This is one of the things my autistic brain has a hard time figuring out about social media. Is it just to say what's popular so people come and pat you on the back?

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 months ago

Or just talk to people? You don't really need a reason to share your thoughts and talk about things. That's the whole point of social media. I get that not everyone wants it that way but some including me do like it.

Probably right after the election.

Zionism, like any form of fascism, can't exist without completely silencing alternatives.
