To be fair Chorley apparently has cheaper housing and average rent prices than Stirling, if you can bring yourself to choose 17th place over 12th!

I lived in a village outside of Hexham and it is indeed quite a nice place. It kind of flies under the radar when it comes to Northumbrian towns, too, since most are along the coast or in the south east nearer Newcastle

Hitchin isn't East of England, it's in Northamptonshire and west of London centre.
